Longsleddale Pass
Length: 1.62 miles (2.590 km)
Gentle climb on rough stony track on Kentmere side. Last opportunity to turn around 200m beyond top gate.
Ascent fromSadgill/Longsleddale is rough and steep with bare rock and stony hairpins. Impractical for non specialised 4x4s and/or inexperienced drivers.
Angled gateway at Sadgill restricts vehicles to those less than 1.8m wide and/or 4.5m long.
There is no opportunity to turn around on ascent. It is recommended to inspect route first.

Very rough crushed stone with rock outcrop on Sadgill side
Sensitivity: Weather
Vulnerable to rainwater erosion and to wheel spin
Adjoining land easily damaged by diversion or attempts to turn

On Kentmere side route passes by fields then through open sheep & cattle pasture land.
On Longsleddale side, at Sadgill, route passes next to homes and farm buildings; take care, be aware of sensitivity.
Damage to walls, gateways and buildings has been a recurring issue. Open pasture as Kentmere higher up.
Farmers require to use the entire route for access to their land and stock.
